Details

Originally designed to furnish the offices of the Secretariat building in Chandigarh’s Capitol Complex, this chair has been reinterpreted by Cassina as a tribute to Pierre Jeanneret. The designer, along with Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand, was a key figure in creating the government compound in 1951, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016. The chair reflects Jeanneret’s preference for quality materials and minimalist shapes. It is constructed of oak or teak with a Viennese cane seat supported by two V-shape legs.
  • Solid oak or Burma teak structure.
  • Woven Viennese cane seat and back.
  • Sturdy V-shape legs.
  • Part of the Panthella Lighting Collection by Danish architect Verner Panton.

Pierre Jeanneret

It is the fate of history that architect and furniture designer Pierre Jeanneret will be best remembered for his collaborations with his famous cousin, Le Corbusier. The two began their partnership in 1922 with the Villa Besnus outside Paris. This famous familial duo went on to create some of the most esteemed icons of midcentury modernism, including the Villa Savoye in Poissy, France.
