“Touchability” — With their signature sensual curves, the pieces in Eva Seisel’s Granit Collection feel good in the hand. Upturned and rounded edges and an inherent sense of humor reflect the playful sensibilities of the designer known to say, “Touchability is very important.”

Dinnerware with dimples

Although Eva Zeisel’s Granit Collection (1983) was widely exhibited, it wasn’t put into production until 2009. “I like the way the very thin, hard edges of the plates change into a soft, inviting bellybutton,” Zeisel said, referring to the dimple in the center of each plate and bowl. The matte white finish offers a neutral backdrop for culinary delights. Microwave and dishwasher safe. Made in China.

Eva Zeisel

Eva Zeisel was continually intrigued by what she called her “playful search for beauty.” A person of delightfully defiant spirit, the designer was just beginning her career when she declared war on the fashionable avant-garde. “I didn’t accept the purism of modern design,” she said. “In my definition, if it gave beauty to the eye, it was beauty.”
